» THH Lyrics

Well, because I didn’t get to go to work today ‘cause my car broke’d, I decided since I was up anyways that I’d use my time wisely and transcribe every To Have Heroes song instead. ‘Cause it made me feel all better. Yeeeaaaah. Anyways, have at it. Oh, and have an Andy!gif, too:

1. Reasons
Come back for another day with me
Come back, you’ll never want to leave
Just give it all up, just take a knee
And you’ll see

The pictures on the wall don’t look the same
On the outside, the snow is turned to rain
You’re packing up everything we have
You said you might be back

You’ll never go right if you’re always wrong
You’ll take it with a grain of whatever comes along
Well, you’re leaving on my favorite season
I just hope you have your reasons

The cold is gone, the grass is turning green
Did you find out what’s there is what you need?
Get back, get back to where you belong
Just like you were never gone

You’ll never go right if you’re always wrong
You’ll take it with a grain of whatever comes along
Well, you’re leaving on my favorite season
I just hope you have your reasons

A reason to pretend, a reason it won’t end
That’s what I keep holding on to
A reason you’ll get tired, remember what we had
A reason to come back

You’ll never go right if you’re always wrong…
You’ll take it with a grain of whatever comes along

You’ll never go right if you’re always wrong (Come back for another day with me)
You’ll take it with a grain of whatever comes along (Come back for another day)
Well, you’re leaving on my favorite season
I just hope you have your reasons

2. Don’t Give Up On Us
Stay until the morning and maybe you’ll forget
Try hard to remember how we were when we first met
Is that feeling still there, a part of you?
Must still care

So don’t give up on us quite yet
I know right now it hurts, but don’t believe the part of you that says it just won’t work
What we had back then is still enough
So don’t give up on us
Don’t give up on us

All these memories, they sting
Nothing left to hold on to
Like a firework on New Year’s Day, but we never light the fuse
There used to be so much to say, now we’re just passing through the days
Trying hard to get it back

So don’t give up on us quite yet
I know right now it hurts, but don’t believe the part of you that says it just won’t work
What we had back then is still enough
So don’t give up on us

I hate the hard times too
But I know I belong right here with you
Please believe that too

Don’t give up on us quite yet
I know right now it hurts, but don’t believe the part of you that’s had enough

Don’t give up on us quite yet
I know right now it hurts, but don’t believe the part of you that says it just won’t work
What we had back then is still enough
So don’t give up on us

So don’t give up on us
So don’t give up on us
Don’t give up on us

Stay until the morning, and maybe you’ll forget…

3. The Story Of Your Life
Every story has a writer whose life has been inspired by love or a desire to get inside of the mind of the reader or at least get to the next page

Every movie has a part where they get to the heart of the matter foreshadowing what might be happening whether or not there’s a trapdoor in the floor of the stage

So I’m trying to read ‘cause I’m dying to see
Who I will be in the story of your life
Where will I be if you close the book tonight?
Am I the hero or the villain?
Is it a history or fiction?
Will I still be here in the end?
In the story of your life
In the story of your life

In the novel I’m writing I decided I’m using the actual identities instead misleading the people I love, ‘cause they’re the ones who need it the most

Every chapter is another beginning, a beginning to guess if my character’s in over his head ‘cause of something he said or maybe something he wrote

So I’m trying to read ‘cause I’m dying to see
Who I will be in the story of your life
Where will I be if you close the book tonight?
Am I the hero or the villain?
Is it a history or fiction?
Will I still be here in the end?
In the story of your life

Tell me, Juliet
Can we make it through this act without a tragedy?
Oh, let’s get through this scene ‘cause I’m dying to see…
If I will be in the story of your life
Where will I be if you close the book tonight?

Who will I be in the story of your life?
Where will I be if you hold the book tonight?
Who will I be… in the story of your life
In the story of your life

4. Better Day
All apologies my dear, I know you feel like I'm not here
And part of me is missing all the time
I only give you half of me, 'cause I'm afraid the rest of me
Will scare you into leaving me behind
So I keep my secrets to keep us safe

'Cause I did a lot of things and I just don't know what to say
I made mistakes that, baby, I can never take away
I want to tell you everything but I think we would change
So I will wait, wait for a better day

With everything I keep from you, you might think I don't love you
But nothing could be further from the truth
I just want things to stay the same, they probably will the more I wait
But if we don't talk I'm gonna fall away from you
But I keep my secrets, to keep us safe

'Cause I did a lot of things and I just don't know what to say
I made mistakes that, baby, I can never take away
I want to tell you everything but I think we would change
So I will wait, wait for a better day

I know it's not right, but I'll keep hiding anyway
All these things, I know I should say
But baby, I'm afraid

I did a lot of things and I just don't know what to say
I made mistakes that, baby, I can never take away
I want to tell you everything but I think we would change
So I will wait, wait for a better day

5. Fairweather Friend
Fairweather friend
It took me too long to find out
What I was in for
Fairweather friend
I just can’t wait for you to change your mind
And it’s all right if you stay with me tonight
Until the rain passes by

I’m giving it all away
I never really held your pain
‘Cause you never let me in all the way
I gave you the best of me
It’s time that we both see
Maybe it’s better to just let it end
Fairweather friend

How many times will you fold all your things up
Packing with subtle indifference
And all that we dreamt of was everything
Waiting, until we could leave
And it’s all right
If you’ll stay with me tonight
Until the rain, it passes by

I’m giving it all away
I never really held your pain
‘Cause you never let me in all the way
I gave you the best of me
It’s time that we both see
Maybe it’s better to just let it end
Fairweather friend

I’m growing old waiting for you to come around
I’m breaking down

You’re taking it all away
I never had the time to say
Leave it all behind us
And never be the same

I’m giving it all away
I never really held your pain
‘Cause you never let me in all the way
I gave you the best of me (I gave you the best of me)
It’s time that we both see
(Maybe it’s better)
To just walk away
(I’m leaving it all behind)
Maybe it’s better to just let it end
Fairweather friend

6. LA Girl
Driving down a one-way street underneath the Austin sky
Your hair was a thousand miles away stuck on the 4-oh-5
There’s a fine line between what you are and what you got, I guess
Never really had you
You were half way in… but you were always running out

Don’t think this ever could’ve lasted
You were always going just a little faster
Don’t think you ever saw into my Texas world
My pretty little LA girl

Rolling out across the desert, that’s a longer bye
But you can’t say we didn’t give it one hell of a try
That day in Santa Fe, I swear I almost turned this car around
And baby, we both know

This never ever could’ve lasted
You were always going just a little faster
Don’t think you ever saw into my Texas world
My pretty little LA girl
(LA girl)

You were half way in… but you were always running out

Don’t think this ever could’ve lasted
You were always going just a little faster
Don’t think you ever saw into my Texas world
My pretty little LA girl

* A Dream Of My Own
Am I right?
I can still do this in my mind
But the longer it takes, it gets harder on me
Am I right?

It’s okay
You’ve taken enough of the blame
But the longer it takes, it gets harder on you
It’s okay

This is too fast
This is not everything you’re taking from me
STOP, pull back
You’re stealing me, you’re leaving me without a hope
A dream of my own alone

Would you doubt?
My intentions are real
Every breath, every kiss, it falls over you
Would you doubt?

This is too fast
This is not everything you’re taking from me
STOP, pull back
You’re stealing me, you’re leaving me without a hope
A dream of my own

You held on to me as long as I needed you to
I can’t keep holding on to you…
Stop, pull back
You’re stealing me…

STOP, pull back
You’re stealing me, you’re leaving me without a hope
A dream of my own alone
A dream of my own

* Forever
The mornin’ light turns you over
Wakes you up, and I just smile
And in your eyes I see forever
Like a flash, I know it’s you
It’s you
All I want this to be

Forever
I stay here
Forever
Right here with you
Forever
Is how long I would wait
Forever
I promise to be here with you

I catch my breath every time I see you
And all you do is walk into the room
I don’t know why, why I waited this long
To open up my eyes and realize it’s true
It’s true
All I need is you

Forever
I stay here
Forever
Right here with you
Forever
Is how long I would wait
Forever
I promise to be here with you

For a while, I’m not sure I thought past today
And now our tomorrow is all I want
Is all I want to see

Forever
I stay here
Forever
Right here with you
Forever
I lie here awake
Forever
As long as the day is with you

Forever
Forever

I promise I’ll be here with you
I promise I’ll be here with you
I promise I’ll stay here with you

* I Bet You’re Beautiful
I’ve got a picture
Right here in my head
I just haven’t seen you yet
And I’ve got a feelin’
That you’re right around the corner
I just don’t wanna turn the wrong way on the right day
You’re just out of reach
I’m hoping that you’ll walk my way

I bet you’re beautiful
I bet you’re lookin’ for me
I bet you’re waitin’
I bet you’re waitin’ for the day that we meet
I bet you’re beautiful
I bet you’re beautiful

You could be closer
Than I ever realized
Or a thousand miles away
You’re like a star that no one’s found
It’s like I’m chasing you
Just waiting for you to turn around

Well, I bet you’re beautiful
I bet you’re lookin’ for me
I bet you’re waitin’
I bet you’re waitin’ for the day that we meet
I bet you’re beautiful

I bet you’re laughin’ at a joke that I haven’t even told
I bet you always have the right thing to say
I know that I’ll find you someday…

I bet you’re beautiful
I bet you’re lookin’ for me
I bet you’re waitin’
I bet you’re waitin’ for the day that we meet
I bet you’re beautiful

I bet you’re smilin’
I wish you were smilin’ at me
I bet you’re waitin’
I bet you’re waitin’ for the day that we meet
I bet you’re beautiful
I bet you’re beautiful

* Lost In America
New York didn’t do it for you
The prices, the vices, or some other excuse
California suited you well
It’s just that nobody’s real and the traffic is hell
When are you gunna tell the truth?
That it’s you, that it’s you that you’re runnin’ from?

I’ll be right here waitin’ for you
To take the place of the fear in you
I’ll be right here when you’re through
Gettin’ lost in America

You got a place far from the coast
When you wake and you see you were already home
Before you started runnin’, tryin’ to find yourself
Anywhere but here

I’ll be right here waitin’ for you
To take the place of the fear in you
I’ll be right here when you’re through
Gettin’ lost in America

I’ll be right here waitin’ for you
To take the place of the fear in you
I’ll be here when you are through
Gettin’ lost in America

No matter how far you go
You’re right here
No matter how far you fall…

I’ll be right here when you’re through
Gettin’ lost in America
I’ll be here when you are through
Gettin’ lost in America
I’ll be right here waitin’ for you
Lost in America
Lost in America

Ps. I uploaded everything to letssingit.com too because I maintain THH there and it makes me feel special. XD And if you haven’t heard of the extra asterisked songs it’s ‘cause they’re not on the EP. They can be bought on Andy’s myspace, except “A Dream of My Own” which is only available if you rip it off of his live performance and/or vlog on youtube. Mhmm.
